If you're new to Chrysalis, or even an old-timer that needs to freshen up on the lingo, the Chrysalis Glossary is your guide to all those weird and wacky terms you hear. Scroll down or choose a letter from the list above if you want to go to a specific section. If you hear a Chrysalis term that's not mentioned in this glossary, feel free to contact me and I will add it.

4th Day(s)
Each and every day after your Chrysalis weekend.
The day right after your weekend, where you are confronted with real life.
A group of community members that are asked to be a part of a team that helps set up and take down events involving the broader community during the weekend, helps set up and take down for the Flight, provides support, and tries to help ease the burden for the team staying at the church the whole weekend. 4th Day team does not stay at the weekend the entire time and is only there at specific times.

Agape
Love for others
Toys, mementos, tools, placemats, etc. that are made by community members/reunion groups, to be given to the cats on the weekend as an expression of the community's love for them. It's a way to share God's love.
Agape Room
The room where all the supplies, food agape, and regular pieces of agape are stored to be given out during the weekend. Kind of like an agape workshop.

Banquet
The special dinner that happens on the 2nd evening.
Butterfly
A person that has gone on a Chrysalis weekend.
Candlelight
The special candle lit service on the 2nd night where the community gathers to show their love for the cats.
Cat
Short for caterpillar.
Caterpillar
A person who is about to go on, or is on a Chrysalis weekend. Similar to a pilgrim on Emmaus.
Cha
This is an old term that you may still occasionally hear, Background peope used to be called Chas. These are the people that work quietly, unnoticed in the background, setting up things, taking them down, and making sure agape gets where it's supposed to be. They stay at the weekend the entire time.
Chilis
This is where people go after Chrysalis events to relax, eat, and keep the fellowship going. It's fun.
Chrysalis
A cocoon
A 3-day event designed to let youth and young adults grow closer in their walk with Christ, and to foster leaders in the church. The idea being the progression of caterpillar-chrysalis-butterfly.
Cross Service
The special service where burdens are nailed to the cross on the 1st night. It directly follows the Prodigal Talk.
Flight
A Chrysalis weekend.
Heydoyouwanna
An informal Hoot without the formal worship service.
Hoot
A big party where the community comes together for fun, food, fellowship, and a formal worship service.
Journey
A Chrysalis weekend for college age people. These were originally called College Flights.
Lanyard
The handmade rainbow cross necklace each participant receives when they have gone on a Chrysalis weekend.
LD
Lay Director
Mime Communion
The special silent clown communion service that occurs the afternoon of the 2nd day right before the long break.
Reunion Card
The small blue or tan card given to you on the last day that has an example of a reunion group schedule.
Reunion Group
A group of people, not limited to Chrysalis people, that get together regularly to share their joys and concerns, to talk about their walk with Christ, and to hold each other accountable.

Spiritual Director
Send Off
The very beginning of the Chrysalis weekend where the Lay Director calls the names of the Team and Cats, and the community/sponsors then clap them into the conference room.
Silent
This is an old term for the Assistant Table Leaders(the youth that had been on a flight before) that sit at each table and help guide and set the example.
Sponsor's Hour
The service right after Send Off where the sponsors of the cats go and pray over each cats lanyard and light their candles which burn the entire weekend.
TA
Yet another term for the Background team. They stay at the weekend the entire time.
Team
The members of the Community that are asked to serve in either a logistical, conference room, or spiritual position during a Flight. They stay at the church the entire weekend.
Vigil
A 72 hour period, from before the cats arrive till after they leave, where people sign up in 30 minute increments to pray for the weekend continuously
Worship Book
The teal(blue/green, the old ones you may still see are just green) books given to each caterpillar on the first day that contain an order of worship, songs, prayers, etc.
